Smart Oasis has emerged as a victorious solution in the latest cohort of WEF UpLink Top Innovators.
The Food Ecosystems in Arid Climates Challenge was officially launched during this year’s Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. In collaboration with UpLink and the Ministry of Economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the challenge aimed to identify scalable solutions for food security, food waste management, food stability, and climate-smart agriculture.
From January to March 2023, they received an impressive 191 high-quality submissions from entrepreneurial startups worldwide. These submissions covered a wide range of solutions, including agriculture, soil management, irrigation, storage, manufacturing, alternative proteins, gastronomy, and the reduction of food loss and waste.
Over 50 esteemed experts in the field of global food systems took part in a rigorous evaluation process, carefully assessing the submissions. Subsequently, a selection committee was responsible for choosing the final winning cohort.
Although there are already existing innovations that have the potential to revolutionize our food systems, the adoption and scale-up of these innovations in the agri-food sector often lags behind other technology sectors.
As a Top Innovator, the Smart Oasis team will now benefit from exceptional support programs offered by the UpLink platform. These programs include invaluable mentorship, training opportunities, access to a network of investors, and prospects for meaningful partnerships.
We eagerly look forward to collaborating with the other successful innovators and becoming part of this esteemed community. Together, we will work to amplify our collective impact in vertical farming industry.
